Nigerian afropop artist and producer Idahams recently released his single, “Wetin No Good,” a track fusing afrobeats and amapiano into an infectious song.

Talking about the song’s inspiration, Idahams says, “This is one of the first songs I recorded this year, and I believe this song can be a global hit for Africa because of the glorious afrobeats and amapiano fusion that gives it an appeal that cuts across – I hope listeners can feel the song from the first vocal and get excited about ‘Wetin No Good.’ Thematically, the song captures two different feelings and interpretations – on one hand, you are being served a hot breakfast of sad love and heartbreak, but on the other hand, you could be having the best sex of your life.”

“Wetin No Good” follows on the heels of Idahams’ debut album, Truth, Love & Confessions, which received acclaim from elite media outlets, along with amassing more than six million streams.

Hailing from Bonny Island in Nigeria’s River State, Idahams is one of the most exciting new faces of afropop music on the global stage, with two acclaimed projects in the last two years, over 50 million streams, and four top 10 singles on Music Week’s UK Black Music Chart.

Idahams’ sound, influenced by the rich culture and indigenous sounds of his hometown, features heady, percussion-driven rhythms and contagious highlife moods.

Produced by Yussy Beatz, “Wetin No Good” opens on low-slung, evocative savors of afropop, conjuring up the sleek, vibrant suggestions of R&B, yet infused with the exotic, mesmerizing flavors of amapiano. Syncopated beats and a fat bassline give the rhythm a luscious flow. Idahams’ silky-smooth vocals imbue the lyrics with sensual, quixotic flavors, at once tender and alluring.

“My baby eeeeeee / You do me wetin no good o / Wetin no good o / My shawty eeeeee / You do me wetin no good o / Wetin no good o.”

Simultaneously polished and throbbing with a tasty pulse, “Wetin No Good” displays the massive talent and velvety voice of Idahams.
