Charlie Hunnams flesh-beard looked subdued at Comic-Con: would you hit it?

Charlie was in San Diego to promote the next season of Sons of Anarchy, which some people think will be the last season of the critically acclaimed show. The creator of the show hinted as much during the panel discussion too, saying that “I feel like we’re running towards the finish.”

As for these particular photos… these are some of the best pics I’ve seen of him in a while. I have issues with his flesh-beard, and quite honestly, I’m usually not into blonde men. I make an exception for Alexander Skarsgard’s Viking Dong, and I’ve seen enough of Charlie in general to understand his appeal. But his beard is really gross to me. I guess these photos show that the lighting is everything for a flesh beard. In natural light with shadows (like these photos), the beard is manageable and it doesn’t take away from his sexiness. But on a red carpet, it can look pretty gross. I should also say – Charlie spent a lot of time with his fans at Comic-Con, which is always nice.

Now, even though Pacific Rim really isn’t killing it at the box office, Charlie isn’t really getting the “blame” for the box office. He’s still signing up for movie roles, which shows that his career probably won’t take a big hit. The latest film he’s signed on for is Triple Nine, directed by John Hillcoat, who just did Lawless (which I enjoyed). Charlie will be playing a cop – “999” is a police code for “officer needs assistance”. The plot is described as “A group of thieves plan to kill a young LAPD cop to divert the police away from a daring heist they’re perpetrating across town.” Cate Blanchett and Christoph Waltz are also in talks for the film. That sounds really interesting/promising.
